Felis Concolor – Cat of One Color – also the cat with the most names:  Cougar, Puma, Catamount, Screamer, Painter, Florida Panther, Mountain Lion, Nitney Lion.  Cimarron came to Shy Wolf Sanctuary just before his third birthday in late 2010.  He had already had two “homes” and been bounced around at a young age. 

The first place was a supposed “sanctuary” that was breeding, taught him to play too roughly, then beat him over the head with a lead pipe (we are told) in order to keep him under control.  He was sent to another refuge in Florida, where they planned on introducing him to their female. 

Cimarron was too young, enthusiastic, and played too roughly for the female cougar, so they sought another location for him.  Since joining Shy Wolf, Cimarron has quickly won hearts by talking and purring.  He loves attention and scratches but is a bit too enthusiastic with his hugs, so volunteers have to love and admire him through the fencing.  Cimarron still has all his claws and currently resides in the larger two story habitat.
