AMAYA
My Ideal Home would be:
 A family with children to adore and play with me;
 I have a special affinity with Autistic individuals and would love to be a companion to a really special child—or a therapy dog to many;
 I don’t mind going out but some things still scare me a little (e.g., large crowds & sliding doors);
 I’d love to be the only pet as I look at small animals as a toy or something to hunt;
 I might be able to be placed with a large dog but it would have to be a very special match as I can be overbearing and try to be alpha;
 An active home because I have a LOT of energy;
 I’m not big but I have a HUGE personality and love meeting and greeting people!

Amaya of Shy Wolf Sanctuary Naples Florida
We were contacted about Amaya several years ago.  She was about 18 months old at the time and was in need of rescue due to her owner moving. Another lady tried taking her in but she didn't have a fenced vard and felt Amaya needed more room to run.  During that time, however, Amaya slept on the bed with her young son.  We did find the breeder who stated that Amaya is a wolfdog and was born on April 19th.  Amaya doesn't look like any of the wolfdogs we have seen come through Shy Wolf Sanctuary.

She does, however, look like the coyotes we had for several years.  Another rescuer told us she had seen the parents of Amaya and that the father WAS a wolf but the mother was a coyote & husky mix.  Amaya certainly looks like she could be that combination (curled tail, small feet, conformation, coloring).

Whatever else she may be, Amaya is a real sweetheart and has an amazing connection to autistic individuals.  We've had people with autism come through and not react to any animal EXCEPT her on their visit.  Somehow she brings them out of their world and into hers.
